Slow and Steady Wins the Race Once a tortoise was walking slowly in a forest. A hare saw him and laughed at his slow speed. The tortoise felt sad. The hare challenged him to a race. The race began. The hare ran very fast and soon went far ahead. Seeing the tortoise far behind, the hare slept under a tree. But the tortoise continued to move slowly without stopping. At last, the tortoise reached the winning point first and won the bet.

Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
46(b). The Three Questions
The Wise Hermit Once there was a king. He wished to get answers for three questions: what was the right time to begin everything, who were the right people to listen to, and what was the most important occupation. He got many answers but was not satisfied. So he approached a hermit who lived in a wood. While he was there, a wounded man came running. The king saved the life of the man. Then the hermit explained that the most important time is the present, the most important person is the one with us, and the most important work is helping others.

Moral: Helping others is the greatest duty.
